§ 17.24.010. Purpose—Prohibited uses.

The office, research and development district is intended to provide locations for offices, scientific research facilities, and light industrial and manufacturing, including but not limited to, assembly, packaging, light metal fabrication and warehousing conducted within completely enclosed buildings, except off-street parking, off-street loading, and some outdoor storage of materials and equipment. In this regard, the following uses and all other uses not identified in Section 17.08.025 are not permitted:

A.

Refining, or manufacture of any gas or petroleum product;

B.

Manufacture of acid, alcohol, ammonia, asphalt, bleaching powder, chlorine, fertilizer, glue, size, gelatin, oil cloth, linoleum, oiled rubber goods, paint, oil, shellack, turpentine, varnish, paper and pulp, soap, tallow, grease or lard, roofing tar or waterproofing or vinegar;

Arsenal;

D.

Auto wrecking;

E.

Blast furnace;

F.

Brick, tile pottery or terra cotta manufacturing (except for handcraft products);

G.

Coke ovens;

H.

Creosote manufacture or treatment;

I.

Disinfectants manufacture;

J.

Distillation of bones, coal or wood;

K.

Dyestuff manufacture;

L.

Explosives or fireworks manufacture or storage;

M.

Fat rendering;

N.

Forge plant;

O.

Iron, steel, brass, or copper foundry or fabrication plant (except light metal fabrication);

P.

Junkyard;

Q.

Tanning, curing, or storage of rawhides or skins;

R.

Tar distillation or manufacture;

S.

Wool pulling or scouring;

T.

Yeast plant.
